How the video with a Ukrainian girl from the year before last turned into a fake about Kursk
“A Ukrainian soldier and a russian child,” “A soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and a girl from the Kursk Region,” “This is how the Ukrainian military treats the russian population in Kursk”. A video with such captions has gone viral on social media. The footage has garnered thousands of likes and hundreds of thousands of views.
In the comments, some users speculate that the “Kursk girl” would immediately reveal information about the Ukrainian military, while others contrast the behaviour of Ukrainian and russian forces in foreign territories.
However, this video is actually from 2022. It was previously published on X (Twitter) on October 12, 2022.
The soldier in the video can be identified by his chevron as a member of the Transcarpathian Volunteer Battalion “Sonechko.” Contrary to the claims, the girl in the video is Ukrainian, and the footage was shot on Ukrainian soil.
It appears that this emotional video unintentionally went viral, with viewers confusing it with current events in the Kursk Region.
Unscrupulous individuals have also exploited the video’s popularity to promote their Facebook pages and Telegram channels
